Stability of cohomology via double-coset products and suborbit diagrams (Q1922484)

The purpose of this paper is to show that certain calculations of cohomology for sporadic groups can be simplified using the suborbit diagrams of related group geometries. This is shown for the mod-2 cohomology of \(M_{22}\) as has been worked out by \textit{A. Adem} and \textit{R. J. Milgram} [Topology 34, No. 2, 389-410 (1995; Zbl 0832.20075)], the mod-3 cohomology for \(M_{12}\) as has been worked out by \textit{R. J. Milgram} and \textit{M. Tezuka} [Bol. Soc. Mat. Mex., III. Ser. 1, No. 2, 91-108 (1995; Zbl 0855.20044)] and the mod-2 cohomology for \(M_{12}\) determined by \textit{A. Adem}, \textit{J. Maginnis} and \textit{R. J. Milgram} [J. Algebra 139, No. 1, 90-133 (1991; Zbl 0743.20052)].
