In order to study a quantum deformation of the correspondence between the Calogero-Sutherland model and the conformal field theory, the authors define a quantum deformation of the Virasoro algebra and study its structure and highest weight representations. They construct a free boson realization of it and obtain singular vectors in terms of the Macdonald symmetric functions.
