The paper deals with the solvability, for \(y\in P\), a cone of a Banach space, of the equation \[ y\in-Ax+Tx,. \] \(T\) is a 1-set contraction of \(P\) and \(A\) is an accretive operator not \(m\)-accretive, and satisfying a range condition. A fixed point index is defined for \(-A+T\).
