Theoretical investigation of synchronous and asynchronous multisplitting methods (generalization of Jacobi relaxation) for H-matrices. Example of Laplace equation discretized by 5-point difference star on 8-processor shared memory computer Alliant FX/80. Unfortunately no discussion how these methods behave in comparison to other methods, e.g. conjugate gradient methods that can also be excellently parallelized.
