The author gives a partly improved version of a Bombieri-Vinogradov type mean value theorem of the reviewer [Acta Math. Hung. 61, No. 3-4, 241-258 (1993; Zbl 0790.11075)] for the exponential sum \(\sum_{n\leq x} \Lambda(n) e(n\alpha)\). The proof is much simpler than the original one.
