\textit{H. W. Leopoldt} [Sitzungsber. Math.-Naturwiss. Kl. Bayer. Akad. Wiss. München 1956, 41--48 (1957; Zbl 0218.12006)] defined a certain metrical constant in the theory of units of algebraic number fields. This constant, which is known for fields of unit rank 1, is calculated for cyclic cubic fields and some imaginary sextic fields. Numerical values are given for all cyclic cubic fields of conductor \(<100\).
