The authors study inequalities related to the isotonicity of the projection operator onto closed, convex subsets of ordered, e.g. uniformly convex, Banach spaces. These are `properties of four elements' for Lyapunov functionals \(V\) called \((\text{PFE})_V\), generalizing the situation in Hilbert spaces. The situation in \(L_p\)-spaces is studied in some detail. Some applications to minimization problems are included.
