The paper is devoted to the mathematical study of a popular metamaterial model (called the plasma-Lorentz model), in which the permittivity is described by a plasma model, while the permeability is described by the Lorentz model. The authors develop two fully discrete finite element methods for solving the governing equations and prove corresponding stability and error estimates. Some numerical results in 3D supporting the theoretical analysis are also presented.
