In this paper, the local well-posedness for the ``good'' Boussinesq equation is studied. By a crucial bilinear estimate, the author proves the local well-posedness and the ill-posedness for the initial value problem of the ``good'' Boussinesq equation on one-dimensional torus. These results seem sharp.
