The paper shows a very interesting evolution of the Mittag-Leffler theorem from its finding in 1876 to its final version in 1884. In the introduction a well-made overview of Mittag-Leffler and his work is given. As this work had strong influence on the work of Weierstrass, it is clear the this influence is described very well in the second chapter. In Chapter 3 to Chapter 8, the work on the Mittag-Leffler theorem is shown in a rational way, so that the reader can explore the synthesis of the theorem to its final version. I think that this article gives an important overview about this theorem because it is -- as the author mentions -- part of a lot of historical texts in mathematics, and it shows, in a crucial way, problems in the discussion about published results.
