This paper is devoted to a study of the Preisach operator in a variational setting. After a structure analysis of the Preisach model and superposition formulae, the author develops the proof of the Lipschitz continuity of the Preisach operator and its inverse. The identification algorithm is investigated in the next section of this paper together with error estimates for the numerical Preisach inversion algorithm.
