Summary: We give a new proof of results of \textit{B. Z. Linfield} [American M. S. Trans. 25, 239--258 (1923; JFM 49.0459.04)] presenting the roots of the derivative of a complex polynomial as the foci of a certain real algebraic curve in the complex plane \(\mathbb{C}\).
