This highly interesting survey paper of considerable size deals with Erdős' results in number theory and with later achievements that grew out of Erdős' ideas. The treatment is concerned with the following topics: (I) Primes, (II) Divisors, sets of multiples, primitive sequences, (III) Arithmetical functions, (IV) Additive problems, (V) Miscellaneous. It is impossible to give further details of the author's highly condensed paper in a short review. It is strongly recommended that number theorists should thoroughly study this paper -- certainly they can gain historical details and deeper unterstanding of many of Erdős' ideas.
