An algorithm for generating a template of a transfer function is presented. The template is the frequency response of an uncertain plant at a given frequency and in quantitative feedback design is usually represented in the log-polar complex plane (Black or Nichols chart). The algorithm generates template approximations that bound the template from the outside in a safe and reliable way based on interval arithmetic. The template approximations can have arbitrary accuracy and convergence and finite termination is proved. The algorithm input is an expression for the transfer function, \(g(s,\lambda)\) as a function of the frequency, \(s\), and the fundamental uncertain parameters, \(\lambda\). The transfer function magnitude and phase must be continuous functions of the parameters and these functions must be explicitly or numerically computable.
