The authors construct a counterexample to a result of \textit{E. A. Haroutunian} [IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 42, 2094-2101 (1996; Zbl 0874.94021); ibid. 44, 3177 (1998)] concerning the characterization of the rate region for discrete memoryless correlated sources with two separate encoders and one decoder under two fidelity criteria.
