It is known that the creation and annihilation of cellular structures are the signature of the spatio-temporal chaos. The author proposes a modified Burgers equation to understand the dynamics of the creation and annihilation. An unstable linear term is added to the Burgers equation as a perturbation term. The author studies this model numerically and observes that when the instability term and the viscosity term are small compared to the nonlinear term, the shock structures appear. Moreover, the author calculates the Lyapunov exponents and Lyapunov vectors when the time evolution is chaotic.
