This paper deals with the singular problem for the Emden-Fowler equation \[ y''- {x\over q} y^q= 0, \] for any negative \(q\) with boundary conditions \(y'(0)= y(1)= 0\). Efficient iterative methods for obtaining accurate numerical approximation of its solution are introduced. Results obtained by two iterative schemes (of Picard and Newton type) are presented. Also, the authors analyse their convergence to the solution for different values of \(q\).
