The bias-optimized frequency polygon (Q1966003)

The author describes the correct mass proportions property of density histograms and a rescaling of the bin counts which restores this property to the frequency polygon. The mean integrated squared error properties of all frequency polygons based on linear rescalings of the bin counts are investigated. It is shown that the rescaling is optimal in terms of the bias (though suboptimal in terms of the variance).
