Certain properties of single-valued and many-valued continuous mappings of Banach spaces are studied and solvability conditions of certain equations and inclusions involving such mappings are obtained using the earlier results of the author [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR \textbf{289}, No.~6, 1318-1323 (1986); translation in Sov. Math. Dokl. 34, 242-246 (1987; Zbl 0623.47076)]. An application to the Dirichlet problem for a nonlinear second order partial differential equation is presented.
