During the year 1983 necessary and sufficient conditions were obtained for an incomplete idempotent latin square of order \(n\) to be embedded in an idempotent latin square of order \(2n\), provided \(n>16\); see several of the references of the paper under review. In this paper, the authors consider the cases where \(n\leq 16\) and show how to resolve the remaining cases except for a small number of cases with \(n\leq 9\).
