Finite-dimensional dynamical system modeling thermal instabilities (Q1970098)

The authors describe an underlying free boundary model, summarize its analytical properties and present certain relevant features of its dynamical behavior. Through the pseudo-spectral approximation the authors derive a three-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations, that is the main subject of the paper. By the system of ordinary differential equations a detailed description of dynamics exhibited is given. There are presented results of numerical simulations, that demonstrate a rich variety of dynamical scenarios.
