The authors analyze numerically the one-dimensional quasi-static plane-strain initial-boundary value problem of linear coupled thermoelasticity for a hollow circular cylinder made of a finite number of concentric homogeneous orthotropic layers with different thermomechanical properties and subject to time-dependent temperatures on its boundary. Combining a finite difference method with respect to space variable with a Laplace transform with respect to time, the problem is reduced to a finite system of linear algebraic equations. Numerical examples are given for a cylinder made of five concentric isotropic cylinders with different thermal and elastic properties.
