The authors construct vertex operator algebras associated with self-orthogonal ternary codes based on a result of C. Dong, H. Li, G. Mason and S. P. Norton on the decomposition of the Virasoro element of the vertex operator algebra associated with \(\sqrt{2}(A_2\)-lattice) into a direct sum of three mutually orthogonal conformal vectors, whose vertex operators generate the Virasoro algebra with different central charges. Moreover, they determine the irreducible modules of these vertex operator algebras through the irreducible modules of the vertex operator algebra associated with \(\sqrt{2}(A_2\)-lattice).
