The author considers a coupled heat and mass transfer of an air flow through a heated porous bed with thin liquid film evaporation. In this process, the heat is transferred from a warm dry air stream to a cooler moist air stream. An analytical solution for temperature and mass fraction of water vapor is obtained using the well-known erf-function, and the importance of porosity is pointed out. The author emphasizes that some previous theoretical results based on other models are not in agreement with experimental data. The temperature and mass fraction of water vapor are plotted in terms of the ambient temperature, relative air humidity, and Péclet and Lewis numbers.
