The authors give a general higher-order formulation of a transverse shear-normal stress coupled micromechanic model of continuous fiber composites, on the assumption of the existence of a doubly-periodic array of inclusions. The proposed model provides analytical closed-form relations for macroscopic constitutive parameters of the composite material subjected to macroscopically homogeneous deformation field. A third-order theory is used to validate the theoretical framework. It is shown through comparison with experimental and analytical results that the developed model accurately predicts the effective moduli of composite system over a wide range of fiber volume fraction.
