The properties of \(\mathcal P\)-compactifications of a locally compact group \(G\) with a closed normal subgroup \(N\) are given and investigated for a property \(\mathcal P\) of compactifications. Special attention is given to compactifications by almost periodic or weakly almost periodic or left continuous or distal functions. Some necessary conditions for the existence of compactifications are found.
