A method for calculating the minimal embedding dimension \(M_0\) of the chaotic attractor of a nonlinear dynamical system is described. It is shown that the local topological method proposed in this paper can be used to reduce the required amount of experimental data by an order of magnitude, save substantial computing resources, and ensure both rapid numerical convergence and accurate calculation of \(M_0\).
