The author considers the boundary value problem for a singulary perturbed parabolic equation on a strip. The problem is stated, motivation for the study is discussed, and an illustrative example is presented. The example demonstrates how the behavior of grid solutions to Dirichlet and Neumann problems for singularly perturbed equations differs essentially when obtained with classical difference schemes.
