Analytical solution of the radiation-transfer problem in a periodic medium (Q1975079)

The paper is devoted to a linear stationary radiation-transfer problem in a medium consisting of a finite number of identical inhomogeneous layers. An analytical solution to this problem for the multilayer medium is obtained under the assumption that the reflection and transmission operators of a single layer are known. The approach suggested seems to be useful from the theoretical standpoint and easily realizable on a computer, i.e. the solution obtained forms a convenient basis for the development of numerical algorithms.
