The authors consider a linear evolutionary problem as an example of the data assimilation problem. A difference analogue of the variational problem of data assimilation is constructed and analyzed. The authors propose a class of iteration methods for solving this problem and investigate it numerically. The results of numerical experiments are presented. The paper deals with a number of questions concerning the methods for solving the system involved.
