On initial value problems for quaternionic valued functions (Q1975591)

There is considered the initial value problem for a four-dimensional, time-dependent vector satisfying the general first order linear system of partial differential equations in real four-dimensional space. In their treatment, the authors utilize the quaternionic analysis, its structural similarity with one-dimensional complex analysis, and the fact that the analogous initial value problem in two-dimensional space reduces, under certain conditions, to the classical Cauchy-Kowalewsky problem for holomorphic functions.
