The authors describe an approximate model of a gas field, and the optimization problem for gas-production planning on an infinite time interval is set up. It is proved that this problem has a solution on the set of relay functions; the search for the maximum of a functional is replaced by the search for the maxima of a certain continuous function that depends on the switching moment of a relay function. The influence of the discounting coefficient on the optimal behavior of a model is analyzed in detail.
