The authors consider the mathematical model of interaction between thermal-convection flows in the Earth's mantle and the continental lithosphere that takes into account phase transition and includes the Navier-Stokes equations written in the Boussinesq approximation for the moving liquid phase, the heat equation for the region that represents the solid-phase lithosphere, and Stefan-type boundary conditions on the phase-transition front. The problem is solved numerically by using finite-difference schemes based on the method of supplementary domains. Computations of the testing and realistic variants of the problem are described.
