The authors extend to three-dimensional problems and to convective heat transfer the constructal method of minimizing geometrically the thermal resistance between a volume and a point. For this purpose the authors use volume elements and assemblies with cylindrical symmetry. This is a significant step toward the optimization of real heat transfer devices.
