The authors discuss an iterative method to solve eigenvalue problems that arise in the tabulation of the expansion of periodic spheroidal functions in associated Legendre functions. The analysis is based on the power method in a Hilbert space. The authors compare the results of their method with existing tables. There is no comparison with now standard methods in numerical linear algebra such as, for example, the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method.
