In this interesting paper, the authors study the existence of periodic solutions to certain second-order scalar subquadratic equations. They introduce a reduction function \(\phi\) and prove that if this function has a critical point, then the corresponding functional has also a critical point under some reasonable conditions. They also give some applications of this result.
