The authors present a method for determining the minimal sets of Lefschetz periods of Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms. They apply this method for finding the family of minimal sets for self-maps on a nonorientable compact surface of given genus without boundary. Their algorithm confirms that there are no algebraic obstructions in realizing any set of odd natural numbers as the minimal set of Lefschetz periods on such surfaces.
