An observation is the outlier for a given particular model if it is ``in contradiction'' with this model. Understanding the phrase ``in contradiction'' depends on the applied cognitive approach. The authors discuss some definitions of outliers for different kinds of probability distributions. All theorems are correctly proved. The obtained results are very useful for mathematical finance.
