The skew normal distribution is the most widely used model for analyzing unimodal data with skewness. The main result of this paper is the generalization of the classic chi-square distribution and the skew chi-square distribution making it possible to cover the random samples from skew normal populations. These theoretical results are applied for the one-way balanced effect model with skew normal random effects and the regression model with skew normal errors.
