In this paper the authors investigate the decomposability of Lie ideals in a nest algebra. They establish a sufficient and necessary condition on the nest such that each closed Lie ideal in the associated nest algebra is decomposable. This extends the result in [\textit{L. Oliveira}, Houston J. Math. 37, No. 2, 519--536 (2011; Zbl 1232.47056)].
