The authors use the trapezoidal rule to integrate periodic functions defined along some line in the complex plane using a representation of the function to be integrated by grid-based function values. The choice of the trapezoidal rule is natural because of its accuracy and simplicity. The accuracy of the trapezoidal rule can be increased, for example, by using an end correction strategy for finite interval integrations.
