In the paper under review, the author studies metabolic and hyperbolic symmetric bilinear forms over fields of characteristic two. It is well known that over any fields of characteristic different from two every metabolic form is hyperbolic. However, in characteristic two, the notion of metabolic is a weaker condition than hyperbolic. The author introduces the notion of metabolicity index of an algebra with involution of the first kind in characteristic two and studies the behavior of this index over some field extensions.
