Some interesting properties of Pečarić-type functions and Mercer-type functions are here presented and discussed in the case of scalar convex functions and vector delta-convex functions. In particular, an extension of the Hermite-Hadamard inequality is derived. Moreover, some recent results on the Schur convexity (see [\textit{Y. Chu} et al., Math. Inequal. Appl. 13, No. 4, Article ID 51, 725--731 (2010; Zbl 1205.26030)]) are rediscovered and extended. Some applications illustrate the theoretical achievements.
