Representation by sums of unlike powers (Q2054212)

\textit{K. B. Ford} proved in [J. Am. Math. Soc. 9, No. 4, 919--940 (1996; Zbl 0866.11054)] that for all positive integers \(n\) exceeding some bound \(n_0\) one has \[ n = \sum_{j=2}^{15} n_j^j. \] for positive integers \(n_j\). The present (technical) paper improves on this by replacing \(15\) by \(14\) in the sum. Since the circle method is used we have no explicit value of \(n_0\).
