The chemotaxis system with the so-called local sensing \[u_t=\Delta(\gamma(v)u),\] \[\tau v_t=\Delta v-v+u,\] is considered in bounded smooth domains, under the no-flux boundary conditions. Under the assumption \(0\le \tau<(\sup_{(0,\infty)}\gamma)^{-1}\) the global in time weak solutions are constructed and their regularity is studied. Compactness and comparison techniques are used to prove these results.
