The authors investigate a nonlinear bilevel optimization problem. This can be equivalently written as a one-level problem by using the KKT conditions. The authors obtain second order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions by using approximate Hessians. Examples are presented in order to highlight the theoretical findings.
