This paper deals with certain kind of elevated regularity (which the author calls generalized persistence) of entropy weak solutions within the context of \(2\times 2\) Temple system of hyperbolic conservation laws in one space dimension, using a vanishing viscosity approach. Indeed, under certain assumptions, this work gives an alternative proof of global existence of entropy weak solution for \(2\times 2\) Temple system without using the so called compensated compactness method. The related problem for a scalar conservation law in multi-dimensions is also discussed. This work may be of interest to someone working on scalar conservation laws.
