The paper concerns the question whether or not diffeomorphic Lie groups are isomorphic. The author constructs three series of examples of compact semisimple Lie groups which are diffeomorphic but not isomorphic. Compare also [\textit{V. L. Popov}, ``Underlying varieties and group structures'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2105.12861}] for similar results, obtained independently.
