In this paper, the authors determine the connected graphs with two distinct distance Randić eigenvalues. The problem of three distinct distance Randić eigenvalues is also solved for complete multipartite graphs. Some upper and lower bounds for the distance Randić energy of a graph are provided, improving the bounds established by \textit{R. C. Díaz} and \textit{O. Rojo} [ibid. 53, No. 1, 49--68 (2022; Zbl 1484.05126)].
