The paper is focused on the description of the singularities of Nijenhuis operators over real two-dimensional smooth manifolds. \textit{A. V. Bolsinov} et al. [Adv. Math. 394, Article ID 108001, 52 p. (2022; Zbl 1493.53039)] proved that when the trace and the determinant of a two-dimensional Nijenhuis operator are functionally independent the operator can be explicitly constructed in terms of some smooth function of two variables and its first derivatives. This remarkable result is extended in the present paper to singular points at which the invariants of the Nijenhuis operator are not functionally independent. Assuming that the trace has no vanishing differential, the author finds new explicit expressions for the two-dimensional Nijenhuis operator. The general results discussed here are illustrated through several explicit examples. The paper will primarily be of interest for experts in differential geometry.
